What they don't see

We have just completed week 3 of our summer holiday, and we have managed to leave the house...once! Twin 2 is starting to decompress and regulate now; his sleep pattern is improving and he's engaging in a lot of spontaneous play. Twin 1, however, is all over the place. I'm not sure if this is a twin thing, or a sibling thing, but as soon as one settles, the other seems to erupt.

We've always had some reluctance to sleep - last time around I resolved this by co-sleeping - I haven't got that truck up my sleeve this time. Twin 1 is up ALL night. Every night. Whilst his brother and I sleep beside him. The upshot of this is that he sleeps most of the day. This had given me lovely one on one item with twin 2, but it's so disruptive (and exhausting).

So 99% of our holiday days so far have consisted of sofa time and laptops, with none of us having the energy or motivation to do anything else. It's boring, it's monotonous, but possibly it's also what we need right now.
